2. Scope of Work

2.1 General Description

2.2 The purpose of this method statement for shoring wall block work is to describe and cover the
measures and ways of shoring wall blockwork. The work shall include working area preparation precautionary measures application & finishing.


2.3 Equipment/Tools

2.4 Materials/Reference

2.4.1 Materials
 Hollow block/Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU)
Mortar sand and cement

2.4.2 Reference
 Specification
 Drawing (See QA/QC table below)

2.5 Site Planning and Preparation

2.5.1 Material Delivery
The blocks will be delivered via truck or mini truck depending on the volume requirement on site.

2.5.2 Storage
The blocks will be stored in the storage yard. It will only be delivered to the site a few days before commencing. It will be placed on a wooden batten or palette to avoid contact on the ground.

2.5.3 Material Check

The blocks when arrived will be checked by a QA/QC Engineer before unloading to the store yard. The delivery note will be taken by QA/QC Engineer to check and make sure that it is as per the approved material submittal.

2.6 Work Methodology for the Method Statement for Shoring Wall Blockwork

2.6.1 Area below shoring wall (thickening) to be prepared and cast with 25N/mm2 PCC blinding up to the given levels.

2.6.2 The first course should be laid as per the engineer’s drawings. Work should be submitted to the engineer by inspection request before establishing with the second course. If 200mm blockwork or CMU is not possible according to site condition, a 150mm block wall will be provided.

2.6.3 The mortar shall be of cement/sand 1:4 by volume. Measurement boxes to be used to controlling of the mix volume. Water shall be added.

2.6.4 All Blocks shall be wetted by water before being used.

2.6.5 Blockwork shall be carried up in a uniform manner not more than 6 courses in a day.

2.6.6 All Blockwork or CMU shall be plumbed vertically. Joints at the block wall face should be flush to receive a waterproofing system and inspected as per the attached form.

2.6.7 A Reinforced concrete Bond column (Stiffener) having a width of 20cm and depth equal to the wall thickness reinforced with 4 T10 & T8 @ 20cm stirrups, shall be provided in all Blockwork walls at a span of 8 meters if the block wall is 20 and 6 meter if block wall is 150mm.

2.6.8 Anti-termite will be sprayed to the top of the backfilling every 120 cm as per the attachment requirement of an anti-termite subcontractor, protection measures will be taken to prevent anti-termite from damages if not covered with blockwork.

2.6.9 Inspection request to be submitted along with checklist after completing the bock wall.

2.6.10 Block wall face finishing will be done according to the waterproofing subcontractor requirements for acceptance.

2.6.11 All block surfaces shall be cured for a period of 3 days.

2.6.12 Once the raft slab in cast wailers will be removed by D.F including
any protection.

2.6.13 The blockwork will be built up to the finishing levels as previously

2.7 Safety

2.7.1 All operatives shall be given safety induction training by the safety
the officer before starting work.

2.7.2 Care should be taken in the handling of materials during loading & unloading & shifting to the working area.

2.7.3 Proper lighting to be provided as required on site.

2.7.4 Necessary PPE to be used by all operatives.

2.7.5 Secure & good quality Scaffolding to be provided.

2.8 Safety Roles and Responsibility

2.8.1 HSE officer will be involved in all safety measures related to [Company] scope of works. An environmental officer is checking for oil spills and housekeeping.

2.9 Organization, Responsibilities, and Supervision.

2.9.1 Project Manager

 Is overall responsible for the implementation of the approved method statement, specifications, drawings, and
ensure that his team of Engineers and foremen are aware of
it; all resources, humans, materials, and equipment are
available to carry out the work as planned without any delay.

2.9.2 QA/QC Manager
 Improving quality assurance processes and practices. Involved in the recruitment and mentoring of QA/QC
 Developing and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
And overseeing and coordinating the investigation of Customer Complaints and Non-conformities.
 Investigating incidences of staff non-compliance with procedures. And Carrying out a routine sampling of products
produced. Writing up Quality Assurance manuals.
 Preparing for third-party and internal audits.
 Ensuring that internal and external audits are properly carried out.
